           The Municipality of Panay is widely known as very popular place and they called them as Pan-ay in term of Spanish. As far as i know Panay is one of the most oldest town in the province of capiz. It has a great and historical church which looks very attractive to everyone the Sta. Monica Church which they followed them  the name of their patron Sta.Monica. Together their largest bell that gives good impression to the tourists visitors.               Aside from that Panay has a big Celebration during their fiesta that they held during summer vacation that's why there are more tourists visiting there place. It has more preparation for their shows and programs that give very happiest moment to the people. As you go there you will experience and encourage that Panay such a nice place to visit.




HISTORY OF PANAY

                  According to the oldest people who are living in Panay on that time the Spaniards handled first this place to the Filipinos People. The first encounter between the Filipinos revolutionaries and the Spanish forces happened in May 1879 at Tadio Bridge. Panay Island is one of the  provinces of capiz. It is part of a group of provinces forming the Western Visayas group new comprising Region VII.                   
                    
The Sta. Monica Parist Church which now stands as a Historical Landmark was built of Fr. Manuel Lopez the original structure of the church. Upon reaching Lahab River near Panay town proper, the revolutionaries armed with cannon, rifles, bolos and spears laid an ambush to the Spanish forces.  The Sta Monica Parist Church is the center tourist attraction of Panay got a historical and natural commission houses in its 5-storey belfry a gigantic bell whose louder  sound can be heard too much farthest way. It is made more than sacks of coins and got a heavy weights.
